Rebekah and Alex got married in the fall at Redeemer Presbyterian Church in Athens, Ga. Rebekah is a Spanish teacher and Alex works for a bank. She is one of the best cheesecake makers around. He is not. However, they are both good friends of mine and are a wonderful encouragement to both me and all the folks that they know.
Rebekah and Alex have such cool story and it was really special to be a part of their wedding. I won’t delve too far into the past, but Alex was diagnosed with cancer. This led these two lovely people, who hadn’t talked in a relatively long time, to rekindle their courtship. And then they pursued one another until marriage! Alex has since healed and is doing very well.
We took their bridal party shots and portraits at the Founders Garden on the UGA campus. Rebekah wore an a-line dress, borrowed from one of her dear friends, and chose a deep red for their color palette. The gardens are beautiful, especially when the blooms are in full bloom. Alex was rather insistent on having a bridal-party-jumping-photo. And we made it happen! You can view that shot on the Facebook page…
It was a fun to watch them transition from engagement to marriage! I am often involved in behind the scenes moments and work with couples for months or years until this final day of ceremony arrives. When the ceremony arrived, and the moment came for Rebekah’s father to walk her down the aisle, it was evident that both men truly cared for this precious woman. It brings joy to my heart to be a quiet observer of these moments and I hope they are evident in the photographs taken!
One of the couple’s favorite moments, and mine as well, was when they walked outside of the church and were able to spend a few short moments as newlyweds. As a photographer, I love capturing those moments because they are some of the most joyous moments of the day.
Rebekah and Alex were so fun to work with! They were so in love and were easy to photograph. Rebekah and Alex it has been so great watching your love grow, I wish you all the best in the future!
