I’ve never been west of the Mississippi until this trip to California.
I made my way through Hartsfield, boarded the plane, and curled up next to the window. I can’t understand why people aren’t amazed at all the beautiful scenes they’re flying over. Keep your in-flight movies, I’ll watch the world pass under my feet!
A few months prior, Angela had called me and asked if I would be willing to come to L.A. to shoot her and Paul’s engagement photos. I said yes, of course! After lots of emails and two flights, we met at the L.A. airport. And, yes, the traffic is as bad as its reputation!
We spent the weekend eating amazing food, and Paul and Angela took me on tours of Pasadena so I could survey the landscape and lighting. This is one of the prettiest shoots I’ve done thus far! I loved getting to know Paul and Angela during my time in Pasadena; they are such a fun and hospitable couple.
I love getting to know people, and I wish my job afforded me weekends for all my clients. I’m hoping to now have at least two meals with couples, and possibly their families, in preparation for their wedding day. It’s good to prepare my heart for that day, too.
For the shoot, we went to Old Town Pasadena and used The Playhouse, an ice cream shop, and some side streets for the background. Pretty much anywhere we went was picture-perfect! Then we headed the beaches of Malibu, specifically El Matador. This is a pretty famous beach, and once I got there I knew why! California light is so clear and this sunset is pretty magical.
Here are the beautiful photographs below! Please check them out and leave Paul and Angela some love. I’m so excited for this wedding!
