Trinity on the Hill Methodist Church | Palmetto Terrace at North Augusta Municipal Bldg
Michael and Alison were set up on a blind date by a dear friend several years ago for a Tri Delta formal (I photographed her wedding, as well, so this was double fun for me). I love attending weddings with past, beloved clients! Michael proposed to her in front of the fountain on North Campus at the University of Georgia…
“We started walking towards Herty Field where I immediately recognized the group of guys standing in front of the fountain in their white shirts and red ties as Michael’s former a cappella group The Accidentals. Michael started talking as we walked down the center of the field towards the group. They were singing “To make you feel my love” which is actually going to be our first dance song. We stood between the fountain and the group when Michael got down on one knee and popped the question!”
The guys got ready at the Hilton, while the ladies sipped mimosas a few blocks away from the church. The ceremony was held at Trinity on the Hill. Their color palette was a classic grey, black, and white. The flowers were peonies, parrot tulips, hydrangeas wrapped in satin ribbon with pearl pins.
After the ceremony, while driving to the reception site (at the Palmetto Terrace), we had the trolley stop at the middle of the bridge in town and took a few shots! The reception site had a spectacular view of the river that you could see for miles. Trumpet vases, mercury glass, and silver lanterns decorated the location as it turned dusk.
They then had a wild party and left to cheers from their friends and family. Michael and his a cappella group serenaded Alison (and the crowd) with a beautiful hymn just prior to their departure.
I was moved by how many selfless acts this couple chose to give on their wedding day. Alison wore her friend’s memorial bracelet on her bouquet. Treated her grandmother to a special birthday cake. They have loved and loved well! I’m so grateful to be a part of their wedding day.
“…when I found him whom my soul loves. I held him, and would not let him go…”
Congratulations to this wonderful couple.
